Now we have all the set information it’s time to put it all together. We will have a more comprehensive review once the cards are in hand but here is what we confirmed so far.
$3.99 per pack (12 cards per pack)
$144 per box (36 packs)
12 Boxes per case (~2000 cases produced)
$12.99 per starter pack (4 packs)
Base Card
Base Set (192 cards)
A pretty basic looking card these are full UV gloss which is similar to past Select sets.
Parallels (192 cards) - 1 per pack
As with the 2012 Limited Edition set these cards are the exact same design as the commons. They are printed on foil card.
2012 Retirements (10 cards) - 1 in 9 packs
These cards commemorate the careers of some of the 2012 retirees. The cards are printed on gold foil board and gold embossing foil
2012 Chart Toppers – (9 Cards) - 1 in 18 packs
Featuring the 9 league leaders in things such as points, tries, tackles, minutes played and more. These cards are a very lazy design that are very close to the common cards.
NRL Premierships – (13 cards) - 1 in 36 packs
One card for each of the past 13 premiership teams back to 1998 which was the first year of the NRL competition. Cards from the 2 premierships that were stripped from Melbourne Storm have not been included.
2013 Young Guns (Signed) – (16 cards) - 1 in 216 packs (6 boxes)
These cards are the same as Selects Top Prospects inserts and contain signature cards from up and coming NRL players. A 2 per case they are going to be a tough find. These cards are unnumbered with 260 made.
Legends (Signed) – 2 cards in set - 1 per 2,160 packs (5 cases)
Signature cards of Andrew Johns and Johnny Raper. These cards are limited to 200 and are inserted one in every 5 cases. They will certainly be a tough pull.
Case Cards (2 cards)
We have only seen one of the case cards and they more resemble folder cards (A5 size). This one has a picture of the 2 legend cards which may be as close as some people get to them.
Overall a very different set to what we have come to expect from Selects Champions releases. Not sure that there will be a heap of value for people busting full boxes but we will have to wait and see what happens.
