We have come across some advertising for the 2012/13 Australian Baseball Season with the Select Australia logo prominently displayed. It would lead us to believe that Select are now the rights holder for the ABL and we can expect a card release in the near future.
In recent years Select have walked away from Rugby League, Cricket and Football (Soccer) rights. So why the Australian Baseball League? At a guess I would think that Select are producing cards under contract from the ABL with the ABL taking the financial risk (much like the agreement they have with News Limited to produce cards for the Hearld and Telegraph).
We will have to wait and see but at least there will be something new for the Select faithful to collect…..even if it is ABL.
