We have the first details announced for the 2012 Future Force release set to go on sale 1st of October. My first thought was at 5,400 boxes being produced it is not a very limited release. The gold signature cards are a nice innovation. Limited to 30 and signed in gold pen they may just make this product.
A couple players have tweeted out pictures of the green signature cards and they look to be very nicely designed cards. Overall though, given that some of these guys may not even be drafted (with even less ever seeing first team action), it will be interesting to see if collectors jump on this product.
While this product was a response from Select and the AFL to the mega successful 2012 Football Draft Prospects release, as I have said previously, it fails to build on what made Draft prospects so successful – a limited release. Additionally releasing such a large amount product in the off season (traditionally a quiet time in trading cards) is a gamble. Select have rolled the dice, let’s see if it pays off.
